The 3 Major Wedding Lehenga Trends of 2024:

    1. Personalized Lehengas: Crafting Your Unique Tale

The trend of personalized lehengas has taken the bridal fashion world by storm. Brides are opting for bespoke creations that tell their unique story. These lehengas are designed to reflect the bride’s personality, heritage, and love story. From custom embroidery featuring initials or important dates to incorporating family heirlooms, personalized lehengas add a deeply personal touch to the wedding ensemble.

    2. Sustainable Lehengas: Ethical Elegance

In an era where sustainability is at the forefront of global fashion, sustainable lehengas have emerged as a conscious choice for eco-conscious brides. Designers are embracing eco-friendly fabrics, natural dyes, and ethical production practices. These lehengas not only reduce the environmental footprint but also radiate a timeless charm that aligns with the bride’s values.

    3. Colour Trends in Lehengas: A Kaleidoscope of Choices

Lehenga colour trends have evolved beyond the traditional reds and maroons. Modern brides are exploring a vibrant spectrum of hues, from pastels like blush pink and mint green to deep jewel tones like emerald and sapphire. The monochrome trend, where the blouse, lehenga, and dupatta are all in the same colour, is gaining popularity among Indian dresses for wedding.

At the centre of the glass-covered displays was the B.zero1 Kada Bracelet, an India-exclusive design. Unveiled to a select gathering of media and influencers, the bracelet launched with a campaign featuring actor Ayushmann Khurrana. ST:  What was the special occasion you were trying to find dresses for? What designs did you have in mind?

DZ: My mom and I took a day to find the perfect lehengas for my wedding. After a long day of looking for my wedding ceremony and reception lehengas, I felt I may not find something. That was until we ended the day at Silk Threads and I felt hopeful the second we walked in. I knew I wanted a true red for me wedding lehenga and a gold or black for my reception, which was harder than I expected it to be.

ST: What brought you to Silk Threads?
DZ: We always heard great things about Silk Threads and my parents know Ruby and her husband through the Indian community. We had never been to the store though. We ended our day of shopping at Silk Threads but we really should have started here!

ST: What do you like the most about Silk Threads and its staff?

DZ: When we talked to Ruby about what I was looking for she immediately started showing us what she had and thought she might have something that I was looking for. When I saw the red lehenga it was everything I wanted – I was stunned and knew this was it! And when she brought out a gold lehenga I knew it was meant to be!

Ruby and her staff helped make sure everything was perfectly tailored and helped style everything so it would be perfect and I would look my absolute best on the big day.

When I needed help for my now husband’s turban, she immediately jumped in to make sure it matched my red lehenga. Silk Threads offers a detailed, kind, magical wedding experience unlike any other kind in DFW!

ST: Any tips for our readers?

DZ: Know what you want going in and Ruby will make sure you have that and more! She helps style so the look is complete for your big day.
For the wedding weekend, enjoy every moment and cherish the wedding days!

Meet Ruby Bhandari | Founder, #SilkThreads Designer Collection

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ruby Bhandari and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ruby, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?

I wanted to bring the traditional Indian designs and embroideries to a western audience and create a fusion Indo-western range of high-end dresses.

I am happy to share that 30 years later, our vision is still the same – now we also work with some of the most reputable Indian designers to showcase their creations.
