Nadia – “I came in looking for my ceremony outfit, and I had traditional reds and ornate designs in mind.”

Silk Threads – What was the special occasion you were trying to find an outfit for? What designs did you have in mind?

Swara – I was finding outfits for my wedding! I wanted very unique designs for each of my events.

From the Mehndi to the Reception, Swara had a clear vision—distinct styles for every moment, brought to life through our design expertise.

Swara – My mom found out about Silk Threads a while ago! She would bring home such exquisite outfits. I knew Silk Threads would be able to help me find exactly what I wanted.

Being in medical school, I was not able to go to India for wedding shopping, but Silk Threads was the perfect place for me!

Nikita’s Stunning Wedding Looks with Silk Threads

At Silk Threads, we believe every outfit tells a story—especially when it comes to life’s most cherished celebrations. Today, we’re thrilled to spotlight one of our lovely clients, Nikita, who recently celebrated her wedding in stunning, custom-designed Silk Threads ensembles. Her vision, style, and kind words warmed our hearts, and we’re excited to share her experience with you.

We asked Nikita a few questions about her journey with Silk Threads and her fabulous wedding looks—here’s what she had to say!

Silk Threads – What was the special occasion you were trying to find an outfit for? What designs did you have in mind?

Nikita – I was looking for three unique outfits for my wedding, each reflecting the latest trends while staying true to my personal style. Overall, I wanted each look to offer a modern twist on traditional Indian outfits.

For my bridal looks, I needed three distinct outfits for the Maya, Sangeet, and Reception. For the Maya, I envisioned something young, trendy, and fun. For the Sangeet, I wanted a glamorous and bold statement look. And for the Reception, I was going for something elegant, sleek, and timeless.

At the end of the day, I just wanted to feel like the best version of myself—stylish, true to my roots, and totally me. Silk Threads helped me do just that!

Silk Threads – What brought you to Silk Threads?

Nikita – I came to Silk Threads because I was looking for the latest and greatest trends—without having to fly all the way to India to find them. I also needed a store that offered customization options, since I have a petite frame and a specific vision for each outfit.

Silk Threads had a wide variety of options, not just for me, but for my mum and sister as well. We were genuinely excited to explore everything they had to offer.

Silk Threads – What do you like the most about Silk Threads and its staff?

Nikita – The entire staff—especially Ruby and Rishika—have an incredible eye for detail and a deep knowledge of Indian fashion. They always guided us on what looked best and helped us design fully customized looks. I’m truly in awe of how they brought my vision to life and ensured that any modifications were clearly and quickly communicated to the designers.

They really listened to what we wanted and made sure every outfit was perfect, down to the very last detail.

Silk Threads – Any tips for our readers?

Nikita – Trust the experts! Ruby and Rishika truly know what they’re doing and will never lead you astray. There were several moments during my shopping experience when I second-guessed my decisions, but they were always there to reassure me that everything would come together beautifully. And if I still wasn’t fully confident, they always came up with thoughtful solutions to address any concerns I had.

Each outfit turned out even better than I could have imagined, and I’m so grateful!

ST: What was the special occasion which you wanted Silk Threads to help with?

Amit: I was looking for an outfit for my wedding in Iceland!

ST: What designs did you have in mind?

Amit: I was looking for an Angrakhaa style that was a soft cool toned purple, with floral patterns and metallic accents. I was also looking for a larger one to fit my body.

ST: What brought you to Silk Threads?

Amit: It was the reviews that brought me to silk threads! Everyone said the staff would help me find exactly what I wanted, and they were absolutely right!

ST: What do you like the most about Silk Threads and its staff?

Amit: Ruby and the staff were always focused on achieving my vision, they never tried to change it. Their focus was to make my day perfect. The staff also made it a very comfortable and familial setting.

Bride’s name: Naziya

ST: What was the special occasion you were trying to find dresses for? What designs did you have in mind?

N: There were a few special occasions I chose Silk Threads for – my Mendhi and my Pithi. I had a Lengha in mind for my Mendhi, very colorful and floral and for my Pithi, I custom designed an all yellow Gharara pants with a V neck blouse. It was first a Lengha but Ruby worked with me to make it into a flare pants and helped designed the blouse the way I wanted!

ST: What brought you to Silk Threads?

N: I was browsing the Internet and saw Silk Threads pop up, I did more research and saw that she sold a bunch of designer outfits plus her own line. It was really great to see all of the options.

ST: What do you like the most about Silk Threads and its staff?

N: Silk Threads is a great and versatile brand. It has many, many options ranging from Indo-western, to bridal, to guest wear, to sarees, to even a men’s collection. The staff works very hard to make sure the details you requested are up to par and the team helps you in making difficult choices!

ST: Any tips for our readers?

N: For tips, I recommend shopping extra early for your bridal outfits as it can take some time to get it perfect. Working with Ruby was an experience I will always tell other brides about!

JN: As we were planning our daughter’s Bengali Hindu wedding ceremony in Southern California, we needed assistance figuring out what was appropriate attire for this multi-day cross-cultural event. We wanted to look sharp for all of the various wedding rituals and festivities (haldi, mehndi party, ceremony, reception, etc.).

JN: We went to several stores in the DFW area and found Silk Threads to have the best selection and best quality clothing for our needs as parents of the bride.

ST: What was the special occasion you were trying to find dresses for? What designs did you have in mind?

DZ: My mom and I took a day to find the perfect lehengas for my wedding. After a long day of looking for my wedding ceremony and reception lehengas, I felt I may not find something. That was until we ended the day at Silk Threads and I felt hopeful the second we walked in. I knew I wanted a true red for me wedding lehenga and a gold or black for my reception, which was harder than I expected it to be.

ST: What brought you to Silk Threads?
DZ: We always heard great things about Silk Threads and my parents know Ruby and her husband through the Indian community. We had never been to the store though. We ended our day of shopping at Silk Threads but we really should have started here!

ST: What do you like the most about Silk Threads and its staff?

DZ: When we talked to Ruby about what I was looking for she immediately started showing us what she had and thought she might have something that I was looking for. When I saw the red lehenga it was everything I wanted – I was stunned and knew this was it! And when she brought out a gold lehenga I knew it was meant to be!

Ruby and her staff helped make sure everything was perfectly tailored and helped style everything so it would be perfect and I would look my absolute best on the big day.

When I needed help for my now husband’s turban, she immediately jumped in to make sure it matched my red lehenga. Silk Threads offers a detailed, kind, magical wedding experience unlike any other kind in DFW!

DZ: Know what you want going in and Ruby will make sure you have that and more! She helps style so the look is complete for your big day.

SJ: I was looking for an outfit for my reception.

SJ: My Mom had heard about Silk Threads through her friends and heard that the dresses were hand selected and curated by Ruby and brought from India’s best designers!

So she had me visit… I was honestly not looking to get any more outfits for my wedding because we had bought a few in India.

I was pleasantly surprised with the incredible selection they had for wedding dresses . I wanted something that was a knockout for the reception. I wanted something modern and unique with bright colors and that could be worn for other occasions (just the top or bottom).

ST: What do you like the most about Silk Threads and its staff?
SJ: I loved how Ruby took hours of her time to find the perfect dress for me and the time she spent making sure the alterations fit just right for me. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful.

ST: Any tips for our readers?
SJ: The jewelry they have to match with any outfit you are looking for is fantastic. The staff and Ruby are honest with their opinions and helped me find the best dress for me! So grateful that we found them because my dress was a show stopper.

ST: What was the special occasion you were trying to find dresses for? What designs did you have in mind?

H&Z: We were looking for reception dresses for our wedding. We wanted to use the family color, crimson, and new that a half saree was what I needed to get, since my husbands family is South Indian. What we didn’t expect was for my husband to find his outfit that matched perfectly! As much as everyone loved my wedding dress, our reception outfits stole the show! We kept our change of clothes a secret and got to surprise everyone when we walked in to the reception venue.

ST: What brought you to Silk Threads?

H&Z: We drove 3 hours to look for outfits, and heard AMAZING things about Silk Threads and their expertise. As soon as we walked in, we knew we’d never go anywhere else for our occasion wear. Ruby sat with us for at least an hour going through every detail of our day and what would be best for us. Her attention to detail was everything! Her commitment to making sure everything was perfect and came in on time for our big day meant so much to us. And just in time, everything came in and fit perfectly!

ST: What do you like the most about Silk Threads and its staff?

H&Z:: Everyone was so kind and ready to help us at every turn, including all of my calls to make sure everything was coming in for the wedding day.

ST: Any tips for our readers?

H&Z:: I would recommend going in with an open mind. My husband was pretty stubborn about wearing pink, but listened to Ruby and was so thankful in the end. I had some knowledge about Indian occasion wear but learned so much in meeting with Ruby. I decided to trust the expert and am so glad I did! It’s hands down my favorite thing I’ve ever worn!

SS I was looking for dresses to wear to my wedding and to my mehndi function. I knew I wanted to wear a salwar kameez for my wedding day, but beyond that I was clueless.

SS: Someone at my gurdwara recommended Ruby’s store, and my sister-in-law had searched for Indian dress shops in the area and said Silk Threads looked like the best place to start.

ST: What do you like the most about Silk Threads and its staff?
KB: I liked how helpful everyone at Silk Threads was. I am not Indian, and I knew next to nothing about Indian fashion—especially for weddings! Ruby and the team were all so great at helping me figure out what styles I wanted. I ended up bringing in my mom and sisters to get their wedding outfits from Silk Threads as well.

ST: Any tips for our readers?
SS: If you don’t know what you want, or only have a slight idea, just ask! Silk Threads has beautiful clothes, and everyone there is very knowledgeable and helpful. We were able to order outfits for both my plus size and petite family members, and everyone looked gorgeous.
